ADULT NATURE PROGRAM ON REPTILES

Event Type: Special Event
Date: 11/19/2015
Start Time: 2:00 PM
End Time: 3:00 PM
Description:
Did you know that there are 8,240 species of reptiles in the world, inhabiting every continent except Antartica? Averaging 10 to 12 feet in length, the king cobra is the largest venomous snake in the world. It is also the only known snake that builds a nest for egg incubation. Snakes and some lizards flick their tongues in the air to capture scent paticles; these particles pass over a special organ in their mouths called a Jacobson's organ where each scent is deciphered. Meet some of the fascinating snakes and lizards from the collection of the Buddie Ford Nature Center. Come back next month to learn about turtles.
