 South of the North, North of the South, Alexandria was one of the largest slave markets in the U.S. Over 3,750 slaves were export to cotton and sugar plantations in the Deep South. Come join us to talk about the issue of slavery, contrabands and Free Blacks in the city of Alexandria.
