EVENT CANCELLED! THE CONTRIBUTIONS OF WOMEN IN ESPIONAGE DURING THE CIVIL WAR

Event Type: Special Event
Date: 3/20/2018
Start Time: 7:00 PM
End Time: 8:00 PM
Description:
Women spies played a significant role in America's bloodiest conflict. As one's appearance and speech did not necessarily give away one's loyalty, espionage thrived during this time. Many former slaves and some southern Unionists provided valuable knowledge to Union forces. Women with Confederate sympathies were spies as well. Join us for this free program from the US National Park Service to commemorate Women's History Month. For more information contact awilliams@alexlibraryva.org
