“The Day Carl Sandburg Died” Originally shown on the PBS series “American Masters,” this film provides an in-depth look at the intriguing and prolific poet and author. Beginning with his modest upbringing in Illinois, the documentary traces the highs and lows of Sandburg’s high-volume career and personal life. Pete Seeger, Studs Terkel, and Sandburg’s surviving daughter are some of the remarkable figures featured who discuss his life, works and his legacy today. Following the screening, the film’s director, producer and writer, Paul Bonesteel, will video conference in to discuss the seven years he spent researching Sandburg, and answer your questions. 2011. 84 minutes.
