Chicago-based jazz vocalist Alyssa Allgood fell in love with jazz at age 12, when she first attended the Janice Borla Vocal Jazz Camp. She completed her Bachelor of Arts in Jazz Studies from North Central College in Naperville, IL, winning the nationally-coveted Downbeat Magazine Student Music Award for Best Collegiate Vocal Jazz Soloist in 2014. Alyssa recently placed as a top ten semifinalist in the 2015 Shure Montreux Jazz Voice Competition, and has received several other jazz awards/recognitions, including being selected as a top 40 semifinalist in the 2014 and 2015 Sarah Vaughan International Jazz Vocal Competitions and wining the People’s Choice Award in the 2015 Jazz Improvisation Contest held by the Luminarts Cultural Foundation in Chicago. Alyssa's debut release Lady Bird was named a Best Release of 2015 on All About Jazz where it was hailed as “the most refined offering in the genre yet.”
