Description:
Part one of this documentary explains the circumstances that triggered the first world war and how the stage was set for even deadlier conflicts. Part two of the film, The Last Day of World War I explains how on November 11, 1918, known as Armistice Day, the “Great War” was declared over and Allied victory seemed assured. Yet thousands of men would die that day. Allied leaders seeking promotion or vengeance manufactured outrageous excuses to send more troops against a defeated enemy. The territories won would be returned to Germany, while the soldiers were sacrificed for vanity. Based on the book 11th Month, 11th Day, 11th Hour by Joseph Persico. Join us for this Veterans Day event. 141 minutes.
