Event Details

Free your inner Sherlock by investigating some “DIY CSI: Hands-on Forensic Science” at the Velma Teague Branch Library. Join Professor Melissa Beddow from Grand Canyon University for hands-on experience with a mock crime scene! Take fingerprints, collect DNA, and process evidence like the real crime labs do every day. Whether you’re interested in a career in forensic science or just a fan of crime shows, this is a great way to get your hands dirty and work like the pros! With an MS in Forensic Science from University of California, Davis, Professor Beddow is the program director for the Bachelor of Science in Forensic Science program at GCU. A former forensic DNA analyst who testified in over 10 criminal cases, she has experience working in pathology and biotechnology labs. She is also an organizer of GCU’s annual Forensic Science Day, an opportunity for high school students to learn about the field in an interactive way. This program is free and appropriate for both teens and adults. No registration is required. For more information, please call 623-930-3431.
