National Library Week runs from April 7-13th! Stop by any of our library locations and share your love for the library all month! Decorate a paper book symbol to show what the library means to you or why you enjoy spending your time here. Turn the symbol into a staff member and library staff will decorate an area of the library with everyone's love for the library. 

To celebrate Star Wars Day, teens can design a droid using templates, colored pencils, and other material. Head over to the Teen Zone during the month of May to design a droid! All materials will be provided. For ages 12-18.

We are celebrating Star Wars all month long at the Velma Teague Library! When visiting the library in May, be sure to stop by the circulation desk to pick up your very own paper bag Chewbacca craft kit. This craft is for children 12 years and younger; available while supplies last!

Summer is almost here! Do you have a place you would love to visit? Dream of seeing? Visit the Teen Space and show us where you would love to visit this summer, even if only through a book. 

Discover how strikingly helpful it can be to write alongside other writers. All skill levels and types of writing are welcome - a book, blog, script, essay, dissertation, resume, song, poem, or even work. No one will see what you've written (unless you ask them to) or give you unsolicited advice. After a silent hour of writing, participants have time to connect with other writers, discuss writing projects and hurdles, and share recommendations. Please bring along whatever you’ll need to write - earbuds, earplugs, laptop or tablet, notebook and pencil, etc.

Join Lauren for an early literacy program for parent/caregiver and baby, newborn to 18 months. This weekly program includes stories, rhymes, songs and movement with time to engage in guided play and visiting.

Join us at the Velma Teague Library in our meeting room for this in-person book discussion on The Girl Who Drew Butterflies: How Maria Merian's Art Changed science by Joyce Sidman. Explores the extraordinary life and scientific discoveries of Maria Merian, who discovered the truth about metamorphosis and documented the science behind the mystery in this visual biography that features many original paintings by Maria herself.

Grow, Play, Learn at Glendale Public Library's new school readiness program.  During this eight-week program, children, 4-5 years old, will learn basic knowledge for school through stories, songs, and games.  Caregivers will learn tips to support their children at home and prepare them to be successful at school.  This program is designed for caregivers and their children to participate together.  Visit http://bit.ly/GrowPlayLearn to get started! Arizona Broadway Theatre for Young Audiences presents Flight School. 

It’s the first day of Flight School, where they teach birds to fly. Penguin has the soul of an eagle and is ready to live on the wind. But he wasn’t built to soar, as the other birds constantly remind him. Penguin’s spirit won’t be grounded. With some friends of a feather, and a little help on the technical parts, Penguin follows his dreams to flip, flap, fly!
