National Library Week runs from April 7-13th! Stop by any of our library locations and share your love for the library all month! Decorate a paper book symbol to show what the library means to you or why you enjoy spending your time here. Turn the symbol into a staff member and library staff will decorate an area of the library with everyone's love for the library. 

To celebrate Star Wars Day, teens can design a droid using templates, colored pencils, and other material. Head over to the Teen Zone during the month of May to design a droid! All materials will be provided. For ages 12-18.

We are celebrating Star Wars all month long at the Velma Teague Library! When visiting the library in May, be sure to stop by the circulation desk to pick up your very own paper bag Chewbacca craft kit. This craft is for children 12 years and younger; available while supplies last!

This storytime is for children ages 0 to 3 years with a parent/caregiver. Features songs, fingerplays and stories.

This Preschool Storytime is planned for children ages 3 to Pre-Kindergarten. Features songs, fingerplays and stories.

Bring your acoustic instrument and play bluegrass, country, folk, gospel, and more round-robin style! All levels of players welcome. Audience and singers also are encouraged to attend. On the first and third Friday of each month. 

Arizona Broadway Theatre for Young Audiences presents Flight School. 

It’s the first day of Flight School, where they teach birds to fly. Penguin has the soul of an eagle and is ready to live on the wind. But he wasn’t built to soar, as the other birds constantly remind him. Penguin’s spirit won’t be grounded. With some friends of a feather, and a little help on the technical parts, Penguin follows his dreams to flip, flap, fly!

This Old-Time Music jam focuses on traditional instrumental music, including Appalachian fiddle tunes, Celtic and Canadian reels, jigs, hornpipes and other roots music. We encourage all acoustical instruments to share in these traditional tunes: Dulcimers, fiddles, banjos, guitars, harps, mandolins, Dobros, Irish whistles, etc. Players of all ages and ability are welcome to join in the time-honored tradition of gathering and playing music. First and third Saturday of every month.  For more information or to download a free Old-Time Music tune book, visit: www.azoldtimejam.com.

Choose up to six seed packets from the Glendale Library's seed program.Seeds are sourced from Native Seeds/SEARCH and provided by the Glendale Water Services Department – Conservation & Sustainable Living Division.

You will have a choice of two different styles of clay plant markers. Once you have created your markers Master Gardener Anne Stahley from the Glendale Water Conservation Department will discuss gardening in the Arizona climate and give hints from growing your seeds.

This is a STEAM program featuring botany and water conservation technology.

Advanced registration is required. Registration opens on March 16,  2024.

Meet virtually with Arizona Songwriters Association members, Jon Iger and Randy Brown, to get constructive feedback on your song, finished or not, BEFORE you go into the studio! Perform it live or play a recording. Randy and Jon have had songs placed in many movies and TV shows. Randy is a songwriting coach, and Jon is President of the Arizona Songwriters Association. Please register with an email address so event host can contact you with login info for our virtual discussion via Zoom.  

Join other adults and play BINGO on the third Sunday of every month at the Velma Teague Branch Library. The program will take place in our meeting room from 1:30 p.m. until 3:30 p.m. There will be small prizes and books for the winners.

Enjoy an afternoon of music featuring singer/songwriters Cowboy Wrecks, Laura Joy and Michael Greenleaf. Cowboy Wrecks’ original music ranges from Americana to folk to deeply spiritual.  Laura Joy, with her percussive finger picking and buoyant voice, will perform her acoustic pop originals. Michael Greenleaf will share his heartfelt, at times humorous, but always deeply personal and intelligent pieces.

Knight to F3! Wanna build your chess skills, meet other players, or just learn a little bit more? Join the weekly Foothills Chess Club! No registration required! Geared toward ages 8 and up. This week's chess club is being held at the youth tables. 

Bring your family and friends to this educational program with the Desert Tortoise Adoption Coordinator from Arizona Game and Fish.  Meet a live tortoise and learn how you can welcome one to your yard.  Please note that only Arizona residents can adopt.

This program will review the adoption process, general tortoise care, and will allow time for Q&A. 

 2024 adoption applications are currently being accepted.

Become a part of our Big Band, rehearsing and performing a variety of popular Big Band tunes at the Foothills Library!  Musicians who can sight read charts are encouraged to sign-up, and everyone else is invited to attend rehearsals as part of our audience.  All players must bring their own music stands and instruments.
