 This month Dr. Jeffrey Meyer, postdoctoral visiting professor in the OU Mathematics Department, will present some of the most influential mathematicians and mathematical ideas that helped build mathematics into what it is today. Along the way, he will mention some of the most famous and influential problems which suprred the development of mathematics, including understanding gravity and heat, the Bridges of Konigsberg, the solution of a quintic polynomial, and Fermat's Last Theory.

Science cafes are a nation-wide grassroots movement that feature a casual meeting environment where plain language and inclusive conversation create a comfortable atmosphere for people with no science background to learn about ongoing scientific research.
