Part One: Scribbling is Drawing Scribbling is very important to a young child’s development. Fine motor skills are honed for their later use in writing, while language and social growth are encouraged. Children are able to tell what they have drawn even if adults cannot see it, demonstrating a connection between symbols and meaning while orally telling a story. Children given the freedom to be creative and inventive soon learn to draw numbers and letters out of these scribbles. Parents will learn the benefit and different stages of the scribble. They will be given ideas for expanding their child’s creative experience utilizing different drawing utensils and setting up a creative space for their child.
