NEWCASTLE SHARE A STORY WITH SNUFFIE

Children ages 4-10 may share their favorite story with Snuffie the certified therapy dog. This kprogram is desingned to teach children to read aloud in a nonthreatening enviroment, and to add to their confidence. Snuffie enjoys interacting with children and adults.

Facebook is a great way to stay in touch with family and friends. Businesses are even using Facebook to stay in touch with their customers. This short BEGINNERS class will introduce you to the basics such as how to sign up and login, how to find and interact with friends, how to access the your Wall, your Profile and Account information plus how to protect your privacy.
Note: you must already have an "email" address and know the password in order to use Facebook in this class. Come socialize with us at the Computer Training Center of the Norman Public Library.

Rachel is a dance instructor at Modern Dance Arts in Norman where she has been teaching all ages and styles since 2005. She dances with Oklahoma City’s professional modern dance company the Hartel Dance Group. She directs and teaches dance for the Chickasaw Summer Arts Academy, as well.

This class will use stock footage and Windows Movie Maker to practice short video editing exercises with a brief screening of student work produced concluding class. Students will learn how to import, edit, and export video projects with this software.

TECUMSEH Unlocking the Secret of the Underground Railroad Quilt

THis is a three part class on the underground railroad quilts. In our first class we will expolre the underground railroad and its history through a book discussion. Chess from the Ground Up

Rachel Hendricks, dancer, choreographer and instructor leads a fun workshop to learn some moves to turn heads on any dance floor. RELEASE FORM IS REQUIRED FOR THIS PROGRAM. Confidence and ease at being in a dancing crowd is a natural result of time spent with Rachel. Rachel is a dance instructor at Modern Dance Arts in Norman where she has been teaching all ages and styles since 2005. She dances with Oklahoma City’s professional modern dance company the Hartel Dance Group. She directs and teaches dance for the Chickasaw Summer Arts Academy, as well.

Confidence and ease at being in a dancing crowd is a natural result of time spent with Rachel. Rachel is a dance instructor at Modern Dance Arts in Norman where she has been teaching all ages and styles since 2005. She dances with Oklahoma City’s professional modern dance company the Hartel Dance Group. She directs and teaches dance for the Chickasaw Summer Arts Academy, as well.

Teen Film-Making Camp

This program is designed for teens 13 to 18 years old interested in film-making. You will have the oppurtunity to both act in short films and be a part of the filming/devolpment of the projects. It puts emphasis on spinal and pelvic alignment, breathing, and developing a strong core or center, and improving coordination and balance. Pilates' system allows for different exercises to be modified in range of difficulty from beginning to advance. Intensity can be increased over time as the body conditions and adapts to the exercises.

Barbara Mansell Johnson Barbara has had a passion for creativity from an early age. Her creativity has come in various expressions in the form of visual art, writing, singing, and public speaking.
In 1978 she began oil painting lessons and continued to paint for personal expression until 1990 when she founded Ms. B. Art Gallery. She stopped painting and started representing artists from around the world. Barbara received a great deal of joy from constantly seeing art arrive at the gallery. Almost immediately after retiring Barbara returned to painting. The abstract form had never been a part of her art efforts - but the instant she started painting contemporary art - she found her freedom of expression. Barbara has chosen to present the wide range of color afforded in abstract and contemporary - letting the message of the art speak to the buyer.

Steven Paul Judd Steven Paul Judd, Kiowa/Choctaw, is known primarily as a filmmaker; with writing partner Tvli Jacob he penned and/or directed American Indian Graffiti: This Thing Life (2003), Search for the World’s Best Indian Taco (2010), and Shouting Secrets (2011). Yet he is also a prolific visual artist whose mashups of Native experiences and disposable American pop culture are sly and often downright funny. His creations include paintings, prints, poster art, photography, and t-shirt designs.

Library tables run by our Game Masters will have supplies for players. Players are welcome to form their own tables and games, but must provide their own supplies.

Dig into your Star Trek mind bank to try out the puzzles, games, and crafts all designed to help you feel that you are transported on board the Enterprise and will go boldly through the library on a mission of fun. Start at "Star Fleet Academy" and earn your Star Fleet emblem, and proceed to enjoy different areas of the Enterprise throughout the library. Snacks might surprise you for this program--enjoy treats that the Captain and the Klingons might enjoy some day. Costumes appreciated but not required. Enjoy the photo booth and find your pictures later on the branch FLIKR album. Beam out by completing your Star Fleet Academy Checklist. Family Stories--How to Begin is a workshop that helps people get started (break ground) in telling and preserving their own life-stories. Workshop instructor Nathan Brown, 2013-2014 Poet Laureate of Oklahoma, is also a singer-songwriter and photographer who travels widely, offering workshops on creativity, writing, and photography, as well as photography exhibitions, and readings. Chef Matthew Joplin, founder of Food for Thought Learning Institute presents a lectured cooking demonstration and provides tips for families to eat well without exceeding budgets. The chef will capture the children’s attention (ages 5 to 11) and engage them in some simple food preparation while parents focus on exciting and healthy meal preparation with simple ingredients.
