 Along with HTML and CSS, JavaScript is one of the fundamental client-side building blocks of modern, interactive web sites. This workshop will provide a solid introduction to this scripting language. Students will learn about JavaScript syntax, rules, common uses, and best practices. jQuery is a popular JavaScript library that makes using JavaScript easier, faster, more efficient, and often more powerful. Students will learn the basics of jQuery, what jQuery plugins are, and how to leverage jQuery on web sites. The workshop will conclude with a discussion of the myriad of free online resources available for continued education.

Prerequisites: Students should be comfortable with modern HTML and CSS.

 Michael Anello, founder of Drupal Easy, is an expert in developing practical, sustainable, cost-effective content management solutions with a stellar reputation among clients and the IT community. He has more than 15 years experience in software development and training for research organizations, businesses, and government agencies, as well as an extensive engineering background.
His passion for training comes from a long history of training that started as a graduate engineering student at at Florida Institute of Technology, to his appointment as an adjunct professor, to countless Drupal Trainig programs, including his most recently development and delivery of the highly successful Drupal Career Starter Program, designed for the workforce system. He has also done extensive IT and Drupal consulting and training specific to libraries and library organizations on a variety of topics and projects.
As a Drupal developer, trainer, and consultant, he specializes in custom modules, theme integration, and project management. He has worked on dozens Drupal sites including and, as well as mini-sites for Marriott and JetBlue. Additionally, he has built educational, library, and political web sites with active social communities. He has contributed several Drupal Modules and is an active member of the Drupal community (including being one of the leaders of the Florida Drupal user's group).
