KEYNOTE SPEAKER Emotional Intelligence - Dr. David Kelley Communicate with Anyone and everyone!-Janet Williams Would you like to have a better understanding of your behavior and others so you can improve your communication skills? This session will give an introduction to the four main styles of communication behavioral strengths and challenges in yourself and others. During the session you will learn what motivates people; recognize behavioral clues to identifying each style and how to effectively deal with each style. Creating Optimism in the Work - Dr. David Kelley Copyright it Affects Us All - Janet Williams What you don’t know about copyright could get you or your employer in trouble. Are you aware of the five rights only copyright owners possess? Do you believe everything out-of-print can be copied? Do you know when it’s illegal to make an archival copy of a piece of music, a computer program, DVD or book? In this session information will be given on specific rights granted to libraries, researches and educators to prevent copyright infringement. LUNCH Becoming a Lifelong Learner - Deb Hanson “Life is about learning; when you stop learning, you die.” – Tom Clancy There are people and resources everywhere that can help you stay on the leading edge, develop new skills, and stay relevant in your chosen profession. It’s easier than ever to reach out and connect these days. This presentation focuses on social media networks, online resources, and the dispositions you need to build your own personal learning network (PLN) and manage it so you can become a learner for life, bring out your best at work, and have a personal life, too. By nurturing a connection with nature, see how libraries across the US are building advocacy and unique identities tied to their region’s biology, ecology, and natural resources. The Wonderful World of Libraries - One of the Last Free Treasures Janet Williams With the Internet, goggle, twitter and blogs available to all, are libraries still viable? The answer of course is yes. How do you get that message out to your audience? This session will cover the strategies and tips on how to market your library.
