|Train the Technology Trainer (Unpublished)|
Event Type: Face-to-Face|
Start Time: 9:00 AM
End Time: 12:00 PM
WE WILL BE LIMITING SEATS DUE TO THE HIGHLY INTERACTIVE NATURE OF THIS TRAINING SESSION AND WE ENCOURAGE YOU TO REGISTER EARLY!!!
In libraries, we train users every day on a myriad of technologies - but training a group of people on a technology is greatly different than the one-to-one assistance we typically provide at the library. The logistics, audience and our own presentation skills can make or break any workshop.
During this course, we will explore:
• Creating a logistics pre-training checklist to help ensure you and the location are ready to go
• Writing course descriptions, titles, and agendas to help set realistic expectations from attendees
• How to create effective marketing for technology workshops
• Discuss the common pitfalls, questions and sticky issues often faced in a classroom environment
• Discuss handouts, follow-up and other tools you can utilize to make each class a success
• Developing basic presentation skills and techniques for successful public speaking
Academic Library staff will be interested in this workshop because they are constantly faced with faculty and students from varying technical levels and must present and educate them on new technology, ebooks and databases on an on-going basis.
Public Library staff will find this training beneficial because training the public is a constant and ever-changing need in public libraries. From ebook use to iPad classes and more, the public library staff needs to learn to effectively reach out to users on new technologies.
School Librarians and Media Specialists will find the course useful in learning how to effectively introduce new technologies to students and teachers.
Special Libraries will be interested in this workshop because it will help them with presenting new technologies into their organizations through classroom style learning that effectively reaches individuals with varying technology skills.
