One GREAT day for library staff!

Keynote Presentation by Paul Signorelli
(Keynote) “Brainstorms: A Collaborative Approach to Problem-Solving With and For Our Community”
The wisdom of our crowd is something we often overlook while we’re struggling to meet our day-to-day service obligations to the library, its users, and its extended onsite and online community—including our colleagues here in the library. This highly-interactive keynote address prepares participants for a daylong exploration of how, through brainstorming and problem-solving, we can more effectively contribute to community development in every aspect of our work.
Breakout sessions throughout the day will further immerse us in brainstorming and problem-solving techniques so we can improve our skills while producing concrete, easy-to-implement plans of action.

Participants, by the end of the keynote session, should be able to:

Define key elements of the brainstorming and problem-solving process

Identify staff colleagues with whom they can be more effectively engaging in brainstorming and problem-solving to the benefit of the library and the community it serves

Be ready to further explore ways to implement the innovations that will come out of this day-long exploration

 Keynote Speaker, Paul Signorelli:
Helping others identify and develop opportunities is at the heart of everything that Paul Signorelli supports. As a highly-praised presenter, he strives to inspire effective collaborations that build teams capable of transforming workplace and neighborhood communities. As an innovative learning facilitator, he engages learners in an interactive approach that emphasizes learning as a process as much as an event. And as a writer, he documents the innovations he sees and promotes in learning and collaboration onsite and online.

Paul has extensive experience traveling in Europe, working on a kibbutz in Israel, and teaching English in Japan; he also works extensively with clients and colleagues onsite and online throughout the United States. He writes for a variety of publication and co-authored Workplace Learning & Leadership with Lori Reed for ALA Editions in 2011. And he is active in New Media Consortium, the Association for Talent Development, and the American Library Association.

He looks for concrete results in everything he facilitates. As Director of Volunteer Services & Staff Training for the San Francisco Public Library, he helped create a program that kept 150 volunteers on assignment each week and helped meet the learning needs of 850 employees throughout the Library system. As an organizing committee member for the San Francisco Hidden Garden Steps project, he helped facilitate the partnerships that brought that public art project to fruition. And as a member of advisory boards, expert panels, and a board of directors, he has developed the leadership, collaboration, and communication skills needed to help others produce the most positive results possible.
