 This workshop will explore developing collections of materials for various types of libraries and focus on how to meet our user's expectations. Aspects of collection development examined will include

• Community Analysis / Needs Assessment
• Collection Development Policies
• Selection and Acquisition of Materials
• Censorship and Intellectual Freedom
• Cooperative Collection Development
• Weeding, Preservation, and Collection Evaluation.

We will also cover a bit on e-resources and licensing and how they play into the collection mix. Having appropriately managed and developed collections and clear, guiding policies in place is how we best show our love for our users!

 About the Presenter: Dr. Stephanie Rollins is the Chief of Information Services at Muir S. Fairchild Research Information Center (MSFRIC). She is also an adjunct “Digital Reference Professor” for the University of Alabama. Stephanie serves on both regional and state library committees, and she has 22 years of experience in academic and special libraries. She holds a BA in English from Auburn University, a Master’s Degree in Library Service and a Doctorate in Public Administration (both from the University of Alabama).
