About the Authors
Tim Carroll is an Akron native and graduate of the University of Akron with a degree in history and a masters in education. Both of his grandfathers served in World War II. His interest in writing about the war began when he read his Grandfather Carroll’s war letters.
He started writing about those personal letters and then expanded his interest to a long overlooked topic: Akron and Ohio's part in the war effort. Tim spent months researching WWII and tracking down rare photographs of Akron’s war and aviation history. He has possibly the best collection of such pictures to be published in recent years.
Alan Hlad is a corporate executive turned writer. His work has appeared in The Bleeding Lion, Larks Fiction Magazine, The National Underwriter, Claims Magazine, and PC 360. He is a member of the Historical Novel Society, Literary Cleveland, and the Akron Writers' Group.
Alan lives in Ohio with his wife and children, along with their Golden Retrievers and the world’s most persistent cat. The Long Flight Home is his first novel. Learn more.
