King and Maxwell
Author
David Baldacci
Review
This is the first book I've read in the King and Maxwell series, and I thought Baldacci did a terrific job of making the characters accessible to an unfamiliar reader. The plot was intriguing, and pacing was good and the length was just right. A secret mission in Afghanistan has gone terribly wrong and the man left holding the bag runs for his life. When his email telling his son he's sorry he had to run shows up several days after the Army has announced his KIA status, the son hires King and Maxwell to find out what is going on. One clue leads to another, and soon the scope of their investigation eclipses anything they ever expected to find.  Reserve it!
