|POSTPONED: Protective Enclosures|
Event Type: Face-to-Face|
Start Time: 9:00 AM
End Time: 4:00 PM
Participants will learn three options for protecting rare or damaged materials. We will make a four-fold box for a small book and a phase box of heavier material for a larger book. We will make a clamshell box and discuss how to measure materials for a customized box. These containers can be used for fragile items and books too damaged to repair.
Academic Library staff will be interested in this workshop because the boxes can be used for rare, damaged, and out of print documents and books. They are useful for loose papers, journals, and diaries and are well suited for unique donated collection items.
Public Library staff will find this training beneficial as the boxes are a good storage solution for unique or irreplaceable documents and books as well as local archives.
School Librarians and Media Specialists will benefit from this workshop as these containers can be used for fragile items, books too damaged to repair, and school archives.
Special Libraries will be interested in this workshop because the boxes can be used for rare, damaged, and out of print documents and books. They are useful for loose papers, journals, and diaries and are well suited for unique Special Collections items.
