About the Managing in a Brave New World Webinars: “Brave” and “manage” have always been words that go together. And our world today requires more bravery, more self-awareness, and more intentionality than ever before. In this series, “Managing in a Brave New World,” we’ll delve into many areas of management . . . and a few areas regarding the manager (that would be you!). These are standalone webinars, so you can attend one or all – and of course, we suggest you attend all to get the most benefit!
About this Webinar: If you speak to staff members at many organizations, you’ll find that one of their primary frustrations tends to be that their managers don’t seem to “get it” when it comes to seeing how that manager’s behaviors, quirks, and tendencies affect others. This session is an opportunity to look a little deeper – at ourselves. THEN we can move on to the “managing” piece of our duties!
Academic Library staff will be interested in this webinar because it’s easy to get in the habit of trying to stay aware of how our students and faculty might change throughout the year. That’s a good habit to develop, but does it come at the risk of forgetting to mind our own behaviors and tendencies?
Public Library staff will find this training beneficial because trying to keep all the puzzle pieces straight in a public library full of patrons, volunteers, supervisors, and staff members can be all-consuming . . . to the point that we forget to look inside ourselves from time to time.
School Librarians and Media Specialists will benefit from this webinar because when considering the behaviors of others, some of our “puzzle pieces” can change completely from year to year – so much so that we forget to factor in our own behaviors and tendencies as we manage others.
Special Libraries will be interested in this webinar because we are so immersed in our own special areas, that being able to take a step back to reflect on our own behaviors and tendencies can be a breath of fresh air.
